About Deb Weidman

Deb Weidman is a lifelong maker and digital innovator who bridges the gap between traditional craft and emerging technology. Her journey with fabric began in junior high, with 4-H sewing projects earning a spot at State Fair, followed by piecing her very first Log Cabin quilt in high school. Over the years, she has designed and created a variety of quilt projects, from cherished baby quilts to custom t-shirt memories.

Beyond the sewing studio, Deb holds a degree in Graphic Design and brings over 30 years of professional digital expertise. After successfully running her own business and teaching classes for seven years, she transitioned into the corporate tech space, spending over nine years at VML, a leading global digital agency, as Senior Web Project Manager. For the past two years, she has actively integrated cutting-edge AI tools into her work and realizing it’s efficiencies.

Through AI for Quilts, Deb blends her technical background, design eye, and deep love of quilting to empower makers. She teaches collage and block quilters how to use Artificial Intelligence not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a tireless, modern design assistant and tool that can assist in various parts of the design and creation process. Think of Deb as the "Bob Ross of Binary." AI is not replacing the creative thinking, color choices, cutting, piecing, sewing or quilting; Deb is offering quilters a "happy little shortcut" to the part quilters love most—the actual stitching/creating.

A note about social media…. while social media is a powerful tool to build community, I’m also aware that too much time spent on your phone is not good for your mental health or brain function. I’m trying to find the right balance of using technology (both AI and social media) at the right time for the right reasons. It’s a balance and I am being both purposeful and intentional. So if you only see me posting or commenting on social posts once or twice a day…. that is why. I am finding the less time I spend on social algorithms that encourage fear and anger, the happier I am.

Happy quilting,
Deb
